11th Moscow Cup started in Sport Palace „Dynamo” in Moscow, Krilatskoye. The opening ceremony was conducted by founder and unchanged main organizer of Moscow Cup - Mihail Margolis. As guests there were Stars of Russian music – Valeriy Meladze and Sergej Galinin. Also those very well known musicians before opening ceremony also played friendly game.

Tournament attracted a lot of media attention – TV crews and radio reporters made stories about the only Big 6 WTHT tournament in Russia. Tournament was started by 185 players from 6 countries, including the top 8 players of World Rank. Only this is enough to mark out the high level of the tournament.
